Everywhere in the world, people tell each other stories. From night tales and television series to short conversations during smoke-breaks, or ‘how was your day?’ when you come home. Everywhere in the world, there are stories about despair, grief and uncertain times. Those same stories are also about hope and coming together. In some places they may call it Romeo and Juliet, in others Laila and Majnun. Where-ever we may be born, we all share the same stories.

This evening, we will share our own same stories.

Starting off in the hands of EB&VLOED, whose ambient poetic folk atmospheres create an intimate space. Close your eyes and drift away.

The stage will then welcome Sanam Maroufkhani Quartet, who weaves the SWANA influences and Persian lyrics into the language of Western alternative pop. Her music touches on the social and political realities that shape our shared world.

As the night unfolds, the energy rises with Mahala offering a powerful fusion of Balkan, European, and SWANA sonic, a true celebration of musical diversity and connection.

Finally, it reaches its most climactic moment with Klezmagic, an established band in Amsterdam’s vibrant music scene, bringing irresistible rhythms that invite everyone to dance, cherish the moment, and celebrate the journey we’ve shared through sound.

This evening, Lotte van de Merwe, Esther Koolstra and Sanam Maroufkhani graduate from the Conservatory of Amsterdam, celebrating their leap into the vibrant world of music.

When evening falls, or the hall lights dim,

We find shelter under a velvet carpet

As long as the night lasts, the sun will shine
